AFTERNOON SPECIAL ACTIVITIES
Building a strong network and cultivating relationships is equally as important as the educational components of this Conference. Asheville offers plenty of shopping, dining, historical, and recreational adventures to suit anyone’s taste and has numerous attractions. The SCBA has planned two special events for Conference attendees.

12:20 – 4:00 p.m. Downtown Asheville Bites and Sites Tour

In this unique guided walking tour, you will taste the unique flavor found in Downtown Asheville’s culinary treasures. This tour offers a sumptuous glimpse into this exotic world of local Asheville restaurants and gourmet food shops. You will not only have a chance to experience the finest artisan gourmet food in Downtown Asheville, but will also have the opportunity to meet chefs and store owners. This fun and informative tour will visit about six handpicked downtown restaurants and food shops that offer a wide variety of food tastings. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing, be prepared for inclement weather (tours are held rain or shine), and be prepared to climb stairs and sidewalk inclines without handrails. $155 per person. Limited seating and prior registration required. Round trip transportation is provided.

12:20 – 4:00 p.m. Downtown Asheville Microbrewery Tour

This fun and informative tour will take you to a brewpub for an all-inclusive beer tasting lunch, then through several other Downtown Asheville microbreweries, where you will be provided with brew-master access, insight into the beer brewing process, tastings of many local craft brews and seasonal varieties on tap, and an educated introduction to the diverse brewing scene of Asheville and its history. Not only will you sample some of Asheville’s greatest craft beers, you will also get to immerse yourself in the eclectic ambiance that is the local beer scene of Asheville. Breweries are chosen for the group based on availability of venues such as the Bhramari Brewhouse, Asheville Brewing Company, the Lexington Avenue Brewery, Green Man, Hi-Wire Brewing, Catawba Brewing Company, Wedge Brewing Company, Wicked Weed’s Funkatorium and the Twin Leaf Brewery. $130 per person. Limited seating and prior registration required. Round trip transportation is provided. Breweries require “closed-toe” shoes.

Golf
If you are looking to swing into a round of golf on the legendary 18-hole course at The Omni Grove Park Inn, golf rates of $80 + tax per person have been negotiated for conference attendees. The SCBA is NOT hosting an outing, so should you wish to play or put a group together, please call (828) 398-3858.

7:00 – 11:00 p.m. Dinner and “A Night at the Races”

The Conference will conclude with dinner and “A Night at the Races.” Come dressed in your derby best – bow ties and big hats, seer sucker and sun dresses. The evening is designed to simulate an evening at the horse track. We are bringing the twin spires race to you with virtual horse racing. A DJ will keep the action going with great music and chances to win prizes throughout the night. “Get down and Derby!”

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

SCBA is not responsible for making your hotel reservation. After completing this event registration form OR completing online, you will receive a confirmation email with a web link to make your accommodations with The Omni Grove Park Inn. A group rate of $189 per night has been negotiated (three days prior and three days post meeting based on availability). Rates do not include state and local taxes, fees and assessments currently, 13% plus $10 resort charge. Reservation requests must be received by The Omni Grove Park Inn by January 29, 2019. Should the room block become full before January 29 or should the reservation request be made after January 29, reservations will be accepted on a first come first serve basis, based on availability at the transient rates. It is not uncommon for a group room block to become full prior to the deadline date; we encourage you to make your reservations as early as possible. The hotel will make every effort to honor specific preferences such as location, connecting rooms and bedding preferences. All reservations must be guaranteed by a major credit card supplied at the time of reservation, by first night room deposit based upon your preferred accommodations. Any guaranteed reservation NOT canceled by 12 p.m. seven (7) days prior to arrival will be subject to one night’s room and tax cancellation fee. Any reservations that fail to arrive on the scheduled arrival date will be considered no-shows and a charge of one night’s room and tax will be posted to the guest’s credit card on file. Check-in time is after 4:00 p.m. and check-out time is 11:00 a.m.
