Young Bankers Division Political Advocacy

Since SCBA’s main initiative is government relations it makes the most sense for Young Bankers to get involved in the Association’s grassroots efforts.  Leadership development and effective advocacy go hand in hand and as a group of emerging leaders, it is important for this group to support the banking industry and the SCBA by engaging in grassroots efforts.  In 2019, our Young Bankers Board of Directors took action.  Since then, we challenge every board member to meet with some of our elected officials across the state to start building relationships.  We also visit the State House annually to meet with our state lawmakers and advocate for the banking industry.  Lastly, the Young Bankers Division raises funds through a sporting clays tournament that will be contributed to the SCBA StatePAC.  We believe it is critical to develop relationships with our delegation at an early stage so that the SCBA’s government relations will be successful in the future. Our ultimate goal is to make sure every elected official has a relationship with at least one banker across the state.  If you are interested in meeting with lawmakers in your area, please contact Carolyn L. Bradley, carolynbradley@scbankers.org or (803) 779-0850.
